What citizen science projects you participate in? Golden Gate Raptor Observatory, Hawkwatch program. San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, banding program (predator patrol).
What do you think is the biggest issue or concern related to citizen science? The biggest issue for citizen science is educating the general public that science isn't just for scientists. Much in science is predicated upon direct observation, and anyone who understands the fundamentals of science can do this.
Are you an attendee of Cornell's Citizen Science Toolkit Conference in June 2007? No.
Any recommended reading? "The Ghost With Trembling Wings, " by Scott Weidensaul, about the search for lost and vanishing species. This book reads like an adventure story as Scott travels all over the planet in search of species that have been declared extinct, but it's also a great primer in understanding what constitutes "extinction" and how it affects a biological community when a species disappears.

Jennifer Forman Orth:

Near as I can tell (and others, via this Flickr pic), the beetle is genus Capnochroa in the Tenebrionidae family. Found it on the trail at Sapsucker Woods. It was quite friendly, posing and all :-).
